Different Kind of Bricks for Constructions

2022-08-26

The different types of bricks are commonly used in construction depending on the raw material used in it, the raw materials inclued the concrete, lime, ash and others .

The earliest bricks were the mud brick which was produced in areas with warm climates, they were dried for hardening in the sun, and then the biggest breakthrough came with the discovery of fired bricks that is still relevant today.

The bricks today are not only used for construction but also as a part of interiors for houses and offices. Bricks are differentiated depending on their usage, and please check the part below for details.

1. Burnt Clay Bricks

Burnt clay bricks are the oldest bricks in buildings and are the ones used most. This being superior in quality they are used in constructing important structures like walls, foundations, columns etc. These are made by squeezing the wet clay into molds, then drying them in kilns and firing them. Burnt bricks are classified into 4 different groups as below .

* 1st-class bricks. Premium bricks deliver the highest quality and strength. Such bricks have regular form, smooth textures, and sharp edges, and are more sturdy and stronger than ever.

* 2nd-class brick. With medium quality, they are irregular in shape, and the surface is not soft but rough. This brick class is used in those cases where the brickwork is coated with a plaster coat.

* 3rd-Class Bricks. These bricks are of poor quality and are normally used for temporarily constructed structures. Not recommended for a rainy climate. Each type of brick is rough on the surface and some have unequal edges.

* 4th-Class Bricks. These are over-burnt, shaped irregularly, and color black. This type of brick is used in foundations, paths, floors, and as an aggregate for concrete.

2. Ash Bricks

These bricks are made up of clay and fly ash. A by-product of burning coal is called Fly ash. Fly ash bricks are fired at around 1,000 degrees centigrade. This is defined as 'self-cementing' due to the high concentration of calcium oxide in fly ash.The ash bricks could provide a smooth surface and does not require plaster.

3. Concrete Bricks

Concrete bricks are constructed from solid concrete, along with materials such as cement, sand, coarse aggregates and water. It is the bricks that are least used. It has low strength of compression and is of low quality. Such bricks are used above and under the proof course of humidity. Concrete bricks are typically used in facades, fences and have an excellent presentation of aesthetics. You can customize the sizes of these bricks according to the size requirements. They can also be produced in different colors if the pigment is added during processing.

4. Sand Lime Bricks

These are produced by mixing sand, fly ash, and limestone. The brick is then formed under pressure by molding the mix. This can accomplish a smoother finish and shape which is more uniform than mud blocks. Those blocks are not terminated in ovens similar to consumed earth blocks. If the pigment is applied during processing, it can also be made in various colors. This type of bricks is used for numerous purposes in construction industries such as masonry works etc.

5. Extruded Brick

Extruded Brick is made by driving mud and water, with an exceptionally customary shape and size, into a steel pass on. It is then cut to columns with wires before firing into shorter units and is utilized in little spending developments. It has 3 or 4 openings making up the brick's thickness of up to 25%.

6. Porotherm Smart Bricks

Porotherm smart bricks are also called Eco Bricks and brilliant material is used in making walls that challenge the advantages of regular mud. The way that they are manufactured from regular substances and that they are hollow from inside makes them considerably more productive than the conventional strong blocks and squares. Porotherm bricks are used in thousands of industrial and residential schemes. Also, know how to build a wall on your own.

Above all, there are various types of bricks made and used differently, some are based on the manufacturing method, some are based on raw materials, some are based on the building process, some are based on its making process, some based on weather resisting capability and also shapes.
